3D Design Beginner Course

This camp students will learn the fundamentals of 3D design and printing using either Tkinter or Onshape (depending on their level). They will learn how to create 3D models from scratch, modify existing designs, and prepare files for 3D printing. By the end of the course, students will have designed and printed their own 3D object to take home.

Recommended Ages:

Age: 8 years or older

$325.00

Description

Day 1:

  • Introduction to 3D design and printing
  • Overview of the software (Tkinter or Onshape) and how to use it
  • Basic 3D modeling concepts and techniques
  • Students will create simple 3D models

Day 2:

  • Review of basic 3D modeling techniques
  • Introduction to more advanced 3D modeling techniques
  • Students will create more complex 3D models
  • Introduction to preparing a 3D model for printing

Day 3:

  • Introduction to 3D printing technology and printers
  • Overview of different types of 3D printers and their features
  • Students will learn about different materials used in 3D printing
  • Students will prepare their 3D models for printing

Day 4:

  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing
  • Students will have the opportunity to print their 3D models
  • Troubleshooting common printing issues
  • Overview of post-processing techniques

Day 5:

  • Recap of the camp
  • Showcase of the 3D models created by the students
  • Future possibilities for 3D printing
  • Final Q&A session and feedback gathering

Throughout the camp, students will also learn about the real-world applications of 3D printing, including prototyping, product development, and manufacturing.

Setup

Onshape runs on most Windows, Mac and Linux machines but the better your video card (GPU) and the more RAM you have (8GB bare minimum) the better the experience (regardless of platform). Please be aware that Onshape require a decent computer and internet.

Students must create their Onshape account before the first day. Create your student account here: https://www.onshape.com/en/education
